Shaft Couplings

Our precision-couplings are manufactured by Ruland Manufacturing Co., Inc. Ruland offers a uniquely broad line of products which not only demonstrates knowledge and experience in manufacturing these parts. It also enables us to provide the most suitable solution for our customers and not only the best one available. All our products are manufactured by Ruland to ensure the same high quality for every coupling and every collar.

Rigid Couplings

Ruland rigid couplings are available in one and two-piece designs, with and without keyways, in aluminum, carbon steel and stainless steel. A large number of standard sizes are available in straight and step bore combinations to fit shafts ranging from 1/8" to 2" in the inch series and from 3mm to 50mm in the metric series. Inch to metric conversion couplings are also available by special order. Shaft couplings are stamped with the Ruland name and the bore sizes for easy identification.

Beam Couplings

Three series of zero backlash flexible beam couplings are available with inch and metric bores and outside diameters ranging from 3/8" (10mm) to 1 1/2" (38mm). Shaft couplings in all three series are machined from a single piece of aluminum and feature multiple spiral cuts. The multiple cut design provides higher torque capabilities and greatly reduced wind-up when compared to commodity type single beam couplings.

Bellows Couplings

Bellows couplings combine stainless steel bellows and aluminum hubs to offer superior performance in motion control applications. The bellows are made of stainless steel, which makes them ideal for transmitting torque. Due to the bellows' thin walls, the coupling is able to flex easily while remaining rigid under torsional loads. Parallel misalignment, angular misalignment and axial motion are accommodated by bellows.

Oldham Cpuplings

Oldham couplings are ideal for many motion control applications. Comprised of aluminum hubs with drive tenons that mate to a torque transmitting plastic disc, their design allows for easy sliding to accommodate misalignment with a very light bearing load. Oldham couplings also have the advantages of electrical isolation, low inertia and a balanced design for higher rpm applications. While the couplings accommodate a small amount of angular and axial misalignment, they are especially useful in applications with parallel misalignment.

Jaw Couplings

The zero backlash jaw coupling is comprised of an elastic "spider" and two hubs. The spider, made of an advanced polyurethane material, provides dampening of impulse loads, minimizing shock to the motor and other sensitive equipment. Available in three durometers, these spiders allow the user to customize the jaw coupling's performance. Selecting a soft spider will give the jaw coupling the greatest dampening characteristics, while a hard spider will provide the greatest torsional stiffness and strength.

Disc Couplings

Ruland disc couplings are available in single and double disc styles with bore sizes ranging from 1/8" to 1 1/4" in the inch series and 3mm to 30mm in the metric series. A disc coupling is composed of two black anodized aluminum hubs, multiple flat stainless steel disc springs and a center spacer for double disc styles. The center spacer is available in a choice of anodized aluminum or insulating acetal for electrical isolation.
